Nice to meet you and welcome to @yourmandarin.

My name’s Nika, and I started this project in 2016 to help friends in Shanghai learn some survival Chinese. The page grew fast, and I ended up doing my Master’s degree research on it, exploring modern ways of learning and teaching Mandarin on social media.

I graduated in 2017, and stayed in Shanghai ever since – to work and write for That’s Mandarin. It’s an ambitious language school that shares my vision, and thanks to it, I can now help learners from all around the world on a much bigger scale. I still love YourMandarin dearly and update YM Instagram page daily. This year, it focuses more on Stories, so stop by and take part in YM’s daily quizzes – putting language to use is so much fun!
