When you come to a Chinese restaurant, they use 位 wèi to ask you about the number of guests:
💁🏻♀️ 几位？Jǐ wèi?
How many in your party?

位 wèi – polite measure word for people, guests

Imagine you work in a restaurant, how would you ask the guests:
“Good evening, how many (in your party)?”
