The real trick to mastering this phrase, though, is to be able to understand the answer. Which brings us to Chinese numbers. Let’s practice them today!
1️⃣一 yī 2️⃣二 èr 3️⃣三 sān
4️⃣四 sì 5️⃣五 wǔ 6️⃣六 liù
7️⃣七 qī 8️⃣八 bā 9️⃣九 jiǔ
The general formula for any larger number is to proceed from big to small:
【…千…百…十…】
千 qiān – thousand
百 bǎi – hundred
十 shí – ten

This way, 699 will be:
六百九十九
Liù bǎi jiǔ shí jiǔ
And 560 will be:
五百六十
Wǔ bǎi liù shí
❗️Or, in spoken language, just 五百六 wǔ bǎi liù – as the last 十 is often omitted for prices🔖

@kenwright_hotsun: Then if you are dealing with a small shop its likely you are dealing with the owner…lao3ban3….you need to haggle. Tai gui le! Then offer 25 to 50% and walk away if they dont agree. Just say number kuai (rmb) followed by zenmeyang? Etc etc. Btw it took me 3 days just to learn to pronounce duo shao qian!! You need help from a language partner. Practicing it cements the tones and the words in your memory. If this was easy anybody could do it
