Last tool #6 (super cool): Baidu!
While BaiduTranslate has very nice EN-CN examples, there’s a wealth of real, authentic language on Chinese websites and forums!
BaiduTranslate doesn’t search through them.
But Baidu does
For example, forums like Baidu Zhidao (“Baidu knows”), or Zhihu, or Hujiang – resources very similar to Quora, where people ask and answer questions.
These are actual forums where Chinese people discuss various topics. And chances are, the phrase you want to say has been said by one of 1.7 bln Chinese people!
How can you check?
1. Go to Baidu.com
2. Type in your phrase IN QUOTATION MARKS ” ”
3. Baidu will search for exact matches
4. See how many exact matches were found (the more the better), and how this phrase can be used in context
❗️ By the way, our Chinese learners of English can use Google the same way to check their English phrases😉
Have you used this tool? Do you find it useful?
@yourmandarin you’ll like it! You type a text or a sentence (it’s like a post) and if there are any mistakes, native speakers will correct them. But to make the post visible for the others, you should also correct those who learn your mother language and get the points. You definitely should check it: lang-8.com
@chinesetraineru That sounds absolutely awesome! Thanks a bunch, I’ll check it out!! Maybe we could do “Part II” series one day👍
