If you’re not living in China, can you guess how much would it cost for your lunch to be delivered in a big city?
How much is the average 配送费 pèisòng fèi?

配送费 pèisòng fèi – delivery fee

The answer is, if you choose a place within 3 km of your location, the delivery fee is usually no more than 6 yuan ($0.9), or 8 yuan ($1.2) at night.
Out of these 6-8 yuan, delivery guys get around 5, and the platform gets the rest. But it doesn’t mean that you always pay the 配送费 pèisòng fèi – big platforms such as Eleme or Meituan often run discounts for customers (they get lots of 💸 from advertising, can afford it), so your 配送费 pèisòng fèi might go down to as low as ¥0.3 (4 cents).

So if you do the math, in order to get a 5K salary per month, delivery guys need to deliver at least 1000 orders.
It’s 30 orders/day if they work every day, or 38/day with one day off.
If an average working day is 8 hours, it means 4-5 orders per hour?
Sounds challenging!
So no wonder that you’d often see your order on the map traveling around the neighborhood – because the delivery guys pick up 2-5 orders at once to save time🤷🏻♀️
