‘Let’s talk about it later’ in Chinese (到时候再说吧)

“Let’s talk about it later!”

#SpokenTuesday here with a very handy (but hardly translatable) Chinese phrase 🗣

⭐️

Next time you face a problem that does not require your immediate attention, and can wait – you can tell people:

到时候再说吧
Dào shíhou zài shuō ba!

到 dào – to arrive; reach
时候 shíhou – time
再 zài – again, one more time
说 shuō – to speak
吧 ba – Let’s

⭐️⭐️

到时候再说吧
Dào shíhōu zài shuō ba
Let’s talk about it later

(🀄️Literally, “When the time comes, let’s talk about it again”)

⭐️⭐️

It’s a great phrase that is VERY often used in speech – and illustrates the ability of Chinese people to solve problems as they come. The problem isn’t urgent now? Let’s talk about it when it becomes urgent – 到时候再说吧 dào shíhou zài shuō ba😊

📚
If you are a student: Imagine you’re about to take an exam, but your friends are already asking what you’re going to do to celebrate. You still need to pass that exam! 到时候再说吧!

💼
If you work: Imagine you have a deadline this week, but your colleague wants to discuss the next project. You need to finish this one first! So 到时候再说吧!

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Try saying “I’m not sure, let’s talk about it later”?
