#FoodWednesday in here😋

Where do you usually shop for groceries?

In China, young people might prefer supermarkets. But the “old school” folks still choose 菜市场 càishìchǎng 🥕🥦

菜 cài – vegetables
市场 shìchǎng – market, bazaar

菜市场 càishìchǎng – food market; vegetable market

⭐️⭐️

This word usually refers to markets that open really early, as early as 5am. Vegetables, meat, tofu and other groceries there are usually pretty cheap – and really fresh.

There’s a whole generation of locals that still prefer to buy their veggies at 菜市场 every morning🌱

⭐️⭐️⭐️

There are a few 菜市场 in my area, and one of them is really old and famous. Yesterday I heard a woman in the street introducing it to her relatives:

“这是复中菜市场,我们平时在这儿买菜的”
“Zhè shì fùzhōng càishìchǎng, wǒmen píngshí zài zhèr mǎi cài de”

How would you translate what she said?

And how would you ask her what time this market opens?
