It’s DOUBLE ELEVEN today!
双11 shuāng shíyī – 11.11
November 11; Singles’ Day (China’s online shopping extravaganza)
⭐️
So at mignight last night, Chinese online shoppers proceeded to pay for what they’d been saving in their shopping carts for months – with discounts✨
⭐️⭐️
This year’s discounts were a bit less favourable for shoppers:
🏷️满200减20 (mǎn 200 jiǎn 20) – ¥20 off for ¥200 spent
🏷️满500减50 (mǎn 500 jiǎn 50) – ¥50 off for ¥500 spent
But at least this year, these rules are strict for retailers, and you can be sure to get the 10% or 20% off the regular price with big brands. (In the previous years, retailers would just raise the prices one month before, and then cut them double for 双11 👿)
Some shops find a way to cheat, but the platform still guarantees you’ll get the lowest price during the year 💸
⭐️⭐️
Also, Alibaba and Taobao trademarked the phrase “double eleven” (双11), but you’ll still see other platforms using a variation of the phrase – for example, JD.com uses ‘1111’!
But Tmall belongs to Alibaba, so they are allowed to use 双11 in the poster above👆
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Can you spot from this poster, how many years anniversary of Singles’ Day is Tmall (and Taobao) celebrating this year?
@mrs_cnthomp: 10 yrs?
@yourmandarin: @mrs_cnthomp 🏅 很好😉
