It would be unfair to only share one post in favour of St. Valentine’s – many people dislike it! If you do too, here’s a phrase for you from @renehopfe ✨
This phrase might also be useful to dog owners, and learners who’d like to learn more action verbs:
👋 撒 sǎ – to sprinkle, scatter
🐶 狗粮 gǒuliáng – dog food
⭐️
撒狗粮 sǎ gǒuliáng – “to sprinkle/scatter dog food”; to display affection in public
(Usually, in front of people who are not in a relationship, the so-called 单身狗 dānshēngǒu, “single dogs”)
给👤撒狗粮 gěi … sǎ gǒuliáng – to display affection in front of someone (an ex, for example)
⭐️⭐️
If you don’t like this metaphor, just focus on the verb 撒 sǎ! It’s quite useful, as you can 撒 sǎ salt and pepper over dishes🥗, 撒 sǎ cheese on pizza🍕, 撒 sǎ seeds when you plant them🌱, etc etc.
⭐️⭐️
And if you’re okay with this phrase – just as many Chinese people are okay with calling themselves 单身狗 dānshēngǒu when they are single – there’s a synonym for you:
秀恩爱 xiù ēn’ài – “to show-loving-affection”
It refers to the same kind of activity, making a public display of affection – just has nothing to do with dog food😁
⭐️⭐️⭐️
How would you say “People who publicly share affection in WeChat moments”?
(WeChat moments – 朋友圈 péngyouquān)
