Just wanted to start today by sharing a useful resource for beginner and medium levels🔍

Chinese language is known for its tricky collocations, 词语搭配 cíyǔ dāpèi. Some words go together well, and others don’t – rules can’t explain why.
⭐️
But lucky for us in the 21st century, language scientists have developed #CorpusLinguistics. It’s a field that studies large amounts of text (📚🗞📃📜 books, websites, subtitles, etc.), and finds patterns in the live language.
⭐️
How do the dictionaries know that the word 遇到 yùdào from last week is mostly used with abstract nouns, and the word 碰到 pèngdào – with concrete nouns?
All thanks to Corpus analysis.
It means that a computer scanned millions of sentences, processed them, and counted how many times these verbs were used in different collocations👩🏻🏫
⭐️⭐️
So next time you want to not only learn a word, but also its “most natural” combinations with other words, try using this Chinese Collocation Search tool 🌏
It looks quite old, but it was the only tool I could find for Chinese.
(If you know any other, please share in comments!)

Can you check what are the most common phrases people say using 出息?
