If the previous post was mostly for learners in China – this one goes for everyone abroad😋 You can try making your own, handmade mooncakes – 手工月饼 shǒugōng yuèbǐng ✨

手工 shǒugōng – handmade, DIY
月饼 yuèbǐng – mooncake

While preparing this post, I found fantastic articles explaining step-by-step (in English) how to make 月饼s. So you can check the recipes on Google🔍
⭐️⭐️
And here, let’s look at some Chinese keywords:
🌕 月饼皮 yuèbǐng pí – mooncake skin
🌑 月饼馅 yuèbǐng xiàn(r) – mooncake filling
🌙 模具 mójù or mújù – mooncake mould (for patterns on top of the mooncake)
And some key verbs:
1️⃣ 分成等分 fēnchéng děngfēn – to split into equal portions
2️⃣ 压扁 yābiǎn – to flatten, press flat
3️⃣ 放上馅 fàngshàng xiàn – to place the filling
4️⃣ 收口 shōukǒu – to close up the gap
5️⃣ 揉圆 róuyuán – to roll into a ball
6️⃣ 用力压 yònglì yā – to press hard
7️⃣ 烤5分钟 kǎo wǔ fēnzhōng – bake for 5 minutes
⭐️⭐️
If you really decide to make mooncakes at home, these 2 ingredients might be difficult to find – they sell them in Asian stores:
💧 淹水 jiǎnshuǐ – alkaline water (to make the dough fluffy)
🍯 转化糖浆 zhuǎnhuà tángjiāng – golden syrup (sugar syrup)
But you can find tips online on how to make your own😍
