Have you ever heard of 杨梅 yángméi?
⭐️
杨梅 yángméi – red bayberry; Chinese bayberry
⭐️
Well, this morning @doloresku and her friend sent a box of it right from Cixi (慈溪), a city in Zhejiang province known for its delicious 杨梅 yángméi😍
⭐️
杨梅 yángméi looks like a berry but it actually grows on trees. I’ve never tried until today, so it was a surprise to discover that you need to soak it (泡 pào) in salt water (盐水 yánshuǐ) – to get rid of tiny worms (小虫 xiǎochóng) inside🐛
⭐️⭐️
And it was delicious – thank you so much, Dolores! Looking forward to trying 杨梅酒 one day😊
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Nǐmen chīguò yángméi ma?
Have you tried red bayberry before?
@pnypho: Also called as “Chinese Strawberry”
@yourmandarin: @pnypho 👍 Good to know! This whole “berry” thing is so misleading though😅
@doloresku: 不客气😘 I’m so glad to hear that you’ve enjoyed it!😊
@yourmandarin: @doloresku Yes, it was an experience❤️
@so_chinese: Oh God, there are Cixi people here?? 😍
@yourmandarin: @so_chinese Not that I know of😢 I’ve never met @doloresku’s friend before! You lived in Cixi for a few years, didn’t you?
@so_chinese: @yourmandarin almost 3 years there
@yourmandarin: @_ashh20 😋😋 太好了!
@yourmandarin: @hikikomori.hikikomori 为什么😅
@vika_plutalova: О господи, чтооо?
@patrick_xilef: tiny worms??
@yourmandarin: @vika_plutalova @patrick_xilef Yeah! Those teeny tiny white ones, that often live in berries… they’re harmless though😅
@yourmandarin: @patrick_xilef There were barely one or two in our 3kg, but friends showed me pics from last month when they had a dozen come out of each fruit🤢
